Fear is a metaphysical force. Fear divides, separates and constricts. In a constricted state, time stands still. Movement is stiff and cautious. It is a chemical process. Something that happens in the so-called Lizard brain…the place where emotion is triggered as a physical response to a perceived threat. A thought that instantly shuts down areas of the brain and body…a “dead man’s switch” cutting the power to everything not necessary to facing the moment. The chemical cocktail for Fight, Flight, Freeze or Fawn is cortisol and adrenaline.
Love is ALSO a Metaphysical Force…one for Expansion and Alignment.
Then why lead this conversation with Fear?
Fear is what makes you pay attention to something…it’s by design. Fear may be constrictive, but is ALSO an attention grabber…in the proper dosage, Cortisol and Adrenaline work to enhance mood, increase learning, and generally contribute to our well being.
Like its more explosive cousin, Anger, Fear gets a pretty bad rep. And why not? Nobody wants to face the school bully, or stand in the breach of a crisis. Ask anyone and they will say, give me Sunshine and Flowers all day long…even if they don’t really mean it.
Sunshine and Flowers are to be enjoyed and appreciated…there is no inherent action involved in receiving pleasure…that’s what makes it so addictive. I should say, Addictive too. Fear is ALSO just as addictive. The KEY to utilizing both Fear and Love in a productive manner is to make them both a Verb instead of seeing them as only a noun, or STATE of Being.
“don’t step that foot out of your bed,
first get it right all in your head.”
--Shauna Marshall, RScP, A Diva’s Guide to Having it ALL!
There is this thing people say.
Know better. Do better.
If only realization was enough. You can’t get from knowing better to doing better without first feeling better.
Know better.
Feel better.
Do better.
Now let’s focus on feeling better.
Let’s raise Our vibration. Together!
Ostensibly to feel good and to NOT feel bad. Drugs were not invented in the seventies...The Greeks… the Roman’s…the Vikings ALL used drugs. The desire to feel good has been around for a long time…it is a powerful and ingrained motivation, but the desire to not feel miserable is an even better, more powerful force. The ancients knew that the most powerful drugs of all were the ones that medicated the mind, but they also knew that the body made its own drugs. Drugs are not limited to simple chemistry either. Certain ideas and thoughts produce strong feelings... | MORE
Modern medicine may come from big pharma, but studies today give resoundingly cosistent high marks to the simple sugar pill. Turns out the Placebo effect is the standard by which they measure the effectiveness of the multi-billion dollar Pharmaceutical Industry. Henry K. Beecher's 1955 paper The Powerful Placebo was the first to use the term "placebo effect", which he contrasts with drug effects. Beecher suggested placebo effects occurred in about 35% of people. Modern results with more complicated treatments have suggested the Placebo effect accounts for more than 60%…
Fear is a metaphysical force that creates division and separation.
Fear is a normal, biological function which causes constriction. and manifests as control. In a constricted state, time stands still. Movement is stiff and cautious. It is a chemical process. Fear is a metaphysical force that divides, separates and constricts. Using an emotional process by creating space for fear by overcoming our fear of fear we can convert and regulate that fear into intuition. There first thing you need to remember is it takes 90 seconds for a triggered emotion to pass through your body. 90 secIt is yinonds can seem really long, but remember THIS too shall pass.
It’s so much easier to ride out the discomfort than to act to continue the cycle. Relax into the fear by hitting the brakes. Stop, Drop & Flow!
Same shit…different day!
It is…when you make no conscious decision to change during your day.
What if today you chose differently?
What if today you made a decision that your life really was never going to be the same shit ever again?
Today. Again, Never be Defeated.
“Time is a flat circle.” You may have heard that before. It’s a through-line in True Detective, a popular HBO series that otherwise changes dramatically each season. There’s no real rhyme or reason to it, other than it's another metaphysical concept that’s on it’s way to becoming a cliche. You might even say it is the elevation of “same shit, different day” to the New Age shelf bargain bin, along with the old chestnuts like “Everything happens for a reason.”
Ram Dass said “Be here Now.” But he also said, Remember. You can’t physically do both…unless instead of remembering the past, he meant Remember the Future, which is basically a rewrite/recycle of the past written by the winners. | Time Crunches
I remember when I was a child, I was taught what to do If I ever caught on fire. Somehow that seemed like a stronger possibility back then...that I might just spontaneously burst into flames. It never occurred to me until much, much later that there was another, better use for this idiom, because there was a much greater risk that just about anything OTHER than catching on fire was going to happen to me.
The real danger wasn't that I was going to set the world on fire...I soon learned that the earth would just continue to spin no matter what was happening in my little corner of it. The things that made the world go round...money...love...and the longing for both kept my feet firmly on the treadmill. I thought if I listened to the beat of a different drummer, I would not fall into the rut on the beaten path.
It turned out that it really wasn't about changing the world, it was more about changing myself, and not to fit in or to stand out...but rather to be the best version of myself, bringing my gifts and my unique world view into play. I went from trying to find my way, to trying to find my way out, and neither extreme really worked. I realized that I was going to have to feel my way around, so I began a spiritual practice that led me to check into my body instead of always trying to check out of my life and it's inherent struggles.
